history

Neuses was probably founded in the 11th century. The final syllable "-seß" indicates that it was founded as a noble residence. This is likely to have been on the hill between Neuses and Obristfeld , which was concluded from old field names, broken fragments and a Gundeloh von Oberstenfeld that was proven for the years 1096, 1120 and 1122 . At this time, Neuses was probably a daughter settlement of Obristfeld. Most likely, the von Oberstenfeld represented a branch line or a relationship of the Marschälke von Kunstadt .

Neuses was first mentioned in writing on December 20, 1299 by Abbot Hartmann from Langheim . He recorded in a certificate that the Langheim monastery had received 100 pounds of Heller from Magister Walther , the then rector of the Ostheim church . With this, the monastery was supposed to buy the villa Nuweseze (village of Neuses) with everything that went with it from Albert von Giech . On the following day, December 21, 1299, the Langheim monastery acquired Nuweseze , Obristfeld and Dabermannsdorf at a price of 126 pounds Bamberg denarii.

In 1716 Neuses received permission from the Elector of Mainz to build a forge. This still stands today and, together with some other half-timbered houses, forms the historical core of Neuses. For a long time, Neuses was mainly rural. Up until the beginning of the 19th century, wine was also grown on the southern slopes, although this was mostly unprofitable.

The land consolidation took place in Neuses between 1959 and 1970, and was considered "in its execution as exemplary in all of Bavaria."

The incorporation into Burgkunstadt took place on April 1, 1972. The district of Obristfeld of the previous municipality moved to Redwitz an der Rodach. Until then, the place formed an independent municipality together with Obristfeld.
