Lynn Nicholas "Nick" Libett (born December 9, 1945 in Stratford , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League from 1963 to 1981 .

Career

Nick Libett began his career as a hockey player with the Hamilton Red Wings, for which he was active from 1963 to 1966 in the Canadian junior league Ontario Hockey Association . In the 1963/64 season , the winger also made his professional ice hockey debut for the Indianapolis Capitals / Cincinnati Wings from the Central Professional Hockey League . Towards the end of the 1965/66 season he moved to the Memphis Wings from the CPHL, for which he also competed in the following season . In the 1967/68 season he ran for the first time for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League . At the same time, however, he continued to work in the CPHL for the Fort Worth Wings and in the Western Hockey League for the San Diego Gulls . From 1968 to 1979 the Canadian was a leading player in the Detroit Red Wings. He himself took part in the 1977 NHL All-Star Game . On August 3, 1979, he was transferred to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Pete Mahovlich within the NHL , where he ended his career in 1981 at the age of 35.

For Canada , Libett took part in the 1979 World Cup.
