Niedersachsenweg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Niedersachsenweg is a main hiking trail of around 80 kilometers in the Lippe mountainous region in North Rhine-Westphalia. It begins at the Hermann Monument in the Teutoburg Forest near Detmold , leads through Bad Meinberg , via Blomberg and Bad Pyrmont and finally ends in Hameln in Lower Saxony on the Weser. This path got its name because it ends in Lower Saxony. The route is led in parts on other long-distance hiking trails and divided into four sections.

The Niedersachsenweg initially leads, identical to the Hermannsweg (marked with a white "H"), through the Teutoburg Forest to the Berlebeck Eagle Observatory . Passing the Große Egge , the path then, together with the Runenweg ("X7"), reaches the Externsteine , until finally the Staatsbad Meinberg is reached.

At the historic spa park, the hiking trails "X6" and the rune trail ("X7") separate again. The Niedersachsenweg leads through the state forest park "Silvaticum" and through the nature reserve Norderteich . Via Reelkirchen and the Kneipp health resort of Schieder you hike to Blomberg.
3rd stage: Blomberg - Bad Pyrmont approx. 19 km
The converging hiking trails "X5" (Dingelstedtpfad) and the Niedersachsenweg ("X6") separate again behind the city wall of Blomberg. The Niedersachsenweg now leads past Eschenbruch , up to the Herlingsburg high plateau . Then it goes on to the city of Lügde , along the lowland area of the Emmer, a tributary of the Weser. Here the state border to Lower Saxony is crossed and hiked to Bad Pyrmont.
4th stage: Bad Pyrmont - Hameln approx. 23 km
At the “Hylliger Born” well house, the path leads out to the edge of the forest. We continue on a hillside path past the "Schellenturm" to Gellersen, a district of the municipality of Aerzen. After a few kilometers you will reach the Hämelschenburg , an important building of the Weser Renaissance in the Weser Uplands. Behind the castle, the hiking trail runs congruently with the Weserberglandweg ("XW") through small towns, woods and meadows to the Weser and finally ends in Hameln .

Note

Several hiking trails in Germany have received the "X6" trail designation. Examples: the “backpack hike around Bilstein” and the “main hiking trail X6, Robert-Kolb-Weg” in the Sauerland.
