Hansaweg
The Hansaweg is a 72-kilometer long- distance hiking trail that has been connecting the East Westphalian city of Herford with the Lower Saxony city of Hameln for more than 80 years .

Starting at the Herford train station ( ), the route leads via Bad Salzuflen , the Vierenberg with the Bismarck Tower ( ), Hollenstein , Bergkirchen , Lemgo , Hillentrup ( Dörentrup municipality ) to Sternberg Castle ( ). It continues via Bösingfeld (municipality of Extertal ) and the Hohe Asch to the state border to Lower Saxony and the Pied Piper City on the Weser . The destination of the Hansaweg is Hameln train station ( ).
The trail leads the hiker from the Ravensberger Hügelland through the Lipper Bergland into the Weserbergland . On the way he has to cope with 1635 vertical meters up and 1540 vertical meters downhill. The lowest point of the path is at the Herford train station ( 65 m above sea level ), the Dörenberg is 393 m above sea level. NHN the highest point.
Between Lemgo and Hameln, the Hansaweg is part of the European long-distance hiking trail E1 .
Labelling
The Hansaweg with the signpost -Markierung X and - where appropriate - the path number "9" ( X9 marked).
The Hansaweg is looked after by the members of the Teutoburg Forest Association .
Transitions
- The Karl-Bachler-Weg ( X4 ) crosses in Bad Salzuflen (Bad Salzuflen → Rehburg-Loccum )
- In Lemgo the Runenweg ( X7 ) ( Porta Westfalica → Schlangen ) and the Cheruskerweg ( X3 ) (Porta Westfalica → Schlangen) cross.
- In Dörentrup and Extertal the Burgensteig ( X2 ) crosses (Porta Westfalica → Höxter )
- The Dingelstedtpfad ( X5 ) ( Bad Oeynhausen → Polle ) and the Dachtelfeldweg ( X12 ) (Extertal-Bösingfeld → Stadthagen ) cross in Extertal-Bösingfeld
- In Aerzen the Deister-Süntel-Pyrmonter-Weg crosses ( Barsinghausen → Bad Pyrmont )
- The Niedersachsenweg ( X6 ) ( Detmold → Hameln), the X10 (without a name, Rinteln → Bodenfelde ), the Kasseler Weg ( X18 ) (Hameln → Bad Karlshafen ) and the Weserberglandweg ( XW ) (Porta Westfalica → Hann. Münden ) cross in Hameln )
Award
At the beginning of February 2012, the Hansaweg received the Quality Trail Walkable Germany certificate from the Association of German Mountain and Hiking Associations .
