Hansaweg

The Hansaweg is a 72-kilometer long- distance hiking trail that has been connecting the East Westphalian city ​​of Herford with the Lower Saxony city ​​of Hameln for more than 80 years .

Starting at the Herford train station ( ), the route leads via Bad Salzuflen , the Vierenberg with the Bismarck Tower ( ), Hollenstein , Bergkirchen , Lemgo , Hillentrup ( Dörentrup municipality ) to Sternberg Castle ( ). It continues via Bösingfeld (municipality of Extertal ) and the Hohe Asch to the state border to Lower Saxony and the Pied Piper City on the Weser . The trail leads the hiker from the Ravensberger Hügelland through the Lipper Bergland into the Weserbergland . On the way he has to cope with 1635 vertical meters up and 1540 vertical meters downhill. The lowest point of the path is at the Herford train station ( 65  m above sea  level ), the Dörenberg is 393  m above sea level. NHN the highest point.

Between Lemgo and Hameln, the Hansaweg is part of the European long-distance hiking trail E1 .

At the beginning of February 2012, the Hansaweg received the Quality Trail Walkable Germany certificate from the Association of German Mountain and Hiking Associations .
