The Dörenberg is 392.5  m above sea level. NN the highest mountain in the Lipper Bergland in the Extertal district in Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Geographical location

The Dörenberg is located in the northern part of the Lipper Mountains in the east of the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge Nature Park . Located in the southwest of the municipality of Extertal , whose core village Bösingfeld is about 4.5 km northeast, its summit is a minimum of about 340 m from the border to the particularly western municipality Dörentrup , whose core town Hillentrup is about 4.5 km west. Linderhofe, a hamlet of the Extertal district of Asmissen, is located on the northern slope of its north-western foothills, Schanzenberg .

The winding state road  963 leads over the western flank of the Dörenberg and north past the Schanzenberg , which connects the Dörentrup district of Schwelentrup in the west- south- west with Bösingfeld in the east-north-east; of their branches in the hamlet Linderhofe to the southeast the past leading to the mountaintop county road  46 from.

Watershed

A natural watershed runs over the ridge of the Dörenberg, which extends from northwest to southeast. It separates the valley of the Exter, which flows through the municipality of Extertal in the east, from that of the Bega, which runs through the municipality of Dörentrup, in the south-west.

Sternberg Castle

Tourism and economy

From Dörenberg, the center of the northern Lipper mountainous region, hiking trails lead in all directions. Run over the mountain: Hansaweg and Burgensteig . For winter sports there is a ski slope with a cable car in the Asmissen hamlet of Linderhof .

The panoramic view covers the Wiehengebirge and Weser Mountains in the north and the Süntel , Ith , Vogler and Solling in the east , while the Teutoburg Forest extends to the southwest and the Egge Mountains to the south .

There is a transmission tower and wind turbines on the mountain .

Previous military use

Due to its strategically interesting location, the Dörenberg used to be used constantly for military purposes. The radar station local, as well as the rocket base on the 3 km northwest in the northern part of the district Dörentrup near the neighboring community Kalletal located Lüdenhausen located Steinberg ( 396  m above sea level. NN ), was the end of the Cold War, abandoned and dismantled.
