Norcross is a city in Gwinnett County in the US state of Georgia with 9116 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Norcross is about 15 km west of Lawrenceville and about 15 km northeast of Atlanta .

history

The 1990 Federation Cup , a women's tennis tournament, took place in Norcross .

In addition, some major companies such as the restaurant chain Waffle House , the watch manufacturer Seth Thomas Clock Company and the software manufacturers The Software Link and American Megatrends have their headquarters here.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 9,116 inhabitants were distributed over 3,161 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.88 people per household. There are a total of 3576 households.

66.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.41 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 38.9% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 14.0% of all households.

29.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 36.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 9.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 32 years. 51.3% of the population were male and 48.7% were female.

40.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 19.8% as African American , 0.7% as Indians and 12.8% as Asian Americans . 21.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.3% to several ethnic groups. 39.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

The average annual income per household was 43,101 USD , while 21.4% of the population lived below the poverty line.

The crime rate in 2010 was 332 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were seven rapes, 28 robberies, 19 bodily harm, 94 break-ins, 228 thefts, 32 car thefts and two arson attacks.
