Oberamt Hammelburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oberamt Hammelburg was a judicial and administrative unit of the clerical principality of Fulda and the principality of Nassau-Oranien-Fulda as well as in the Kingdom of Bavaria .

history

Fulda

The property goes back to a donation from Charlemagne in 777. This donation was the centering Saaleck-Hammelburg. The seat of the centgrave and the court was Hammelburg . The military center of the area was Saaleck Castle . The centering included the 18th century Office Saaleck (Diebach, upper valley, upper and lower Eschbach un Wartmannsroth), the winery Office Hammelburg (fire Thal, Geiersnest, the freiadlig erthalischen village Hetzlos, Hundsfeld, Pfaffenhausen, Schmitt Rain, Schwärzelbach and part of Unterthal ( the place was Kondomium with Erthal)) and the provost office Thulba as well as the Thüngischen villages Morlesau, Ochsental, Windheim and the hospital part of Völkersleier and Wolfmünster. There was a dispute about the affiliation of Weyersfeld (Kondomium Mainz / Würzburg).

The city of Hammelburg had city rights since 1303. It actually formed an independent administrative district. The administration of the remaining Fulda property in the Zent had been divided into two separate administrative districts, the Saaleck office and the Hammelburg cellar office. These regionally connected offices were pledged together several times, for example in 1335, 1418, 1426 and 1435. This led to a merging of the administrative structures. From the 16th century the officials of both administrative districts were occupied in personal union. In the 18th century, the previous offices had sunk to the level of dependent wineries.

In the 18th century the office was called Oberamt. Formally, a noble bailiff was at its head. However, this office was sinecure at the end of the HRR . In fact, the chief official was actually the bailiff.

Principality of Nassau-Orange-Fulda

The Principality of Nassau-Oranien-Fulda was created on the basis of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803. With regard to jurisdiction and administration, the rulers' ordinance of January 8, 1803 reorganized the existing offices. The Oberamt Hammelburg was expanded to include Frankenbrunn, Reith, Seeshof and Thulba from the dissolved Propsteiamt Thulba and was now called an office of the first class.

Grand Duchy of Frankfurt

In 1806 the Principality of Nassau-Orange-Fulda was occupied by the French and in 1810 it became part of the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt . During the French era , the office belonged to the Fulda department as the Hammelburg district fairy ; nothing changed in terms of the structure (see court organization in the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt ). In particular, the separation of the judiciary from the administration was not introduced.

Bavaria

According to the final act of the Congress of Vienna on July 9, 1815, the office was transferred to Austria . This transferred the office on April 14, 1816 to the Kingdom of Bavaria . The Hammelburg Oberamt was converted into the Hammelburg Regional Court in 1819 .

scope

At the end of the HRR , the office consisted of the city of Hammelburg and the villages: Diebach , Feuerthal , Hundsfeld , Obererthal , Obereschenbach , Pfaffenhausen , Schwärzelbach , Untergeiersnest , Untererthal , Untereschenbach , Wartmannsroth and Westheim .
