Obadiah Nelson "Obie" Trotter (* 9. February 1984 in Robertsdale , Alabama ) is an American basketball - point guard . After completing his studies, Trotter began a career as a professional basketball player in Europe , which also took him from 2006 to 2008 for two seasons with the 46ers from Gießen in the German basketball league . During his season in Hungary from 2010 to 2012, he took citizenship there and became a Hungarian national player. He then worked in Russia and Greece , among others , before playing for Italian first division club Enel Brindisi since March 2016 .

Career

Trotter studied in his native US state at the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University and was active for the Bulldogs in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He was the dominant player of the team and keeps the statistics of this untraditional university team in the categories of points scored, three-point throws hit , assists , ball wins and games played for performance in the NCAA Division I. In 2005, Trotter led the team to their first title in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and was named Player of the Year for that Conference; in the qualifying game for the finals of the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship you lost to the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland University and missed the first round game against the eventual winner, the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill .

After Trotter was not considered in the draft of the US professional league NBA in 2006 , he moved to the Gießen 46ers in the BBL. After initial problems with the usual European style of play, Trotters contract was extended for another year. Before his second season in the BBL, however, he injured his wrist and was out for a long time. It was not until December 2007 that he was able to compete again for the Giessen team. However, Trotter was still limited by the injury and had to be operated on again after the end of the season. In the 2008-09 season, Trotter played in Brittany Brest on the French Atlantic coast in the second division Pro B . From there he moved to the 2009/10 season to torpan pojat into Finnish Helsinki , where he voted the best player in his position with the team to the NBA and from the major European leagues known Hanno Möttölä was runner that season.

Trotter then moved to Hungary in 2010 to Olaj KK from Szolnok , with whom he won the national double in 2011 and 2012 . During his time at Szolnoki Olaj, Trotter was naturalized and barely missed the 2011 European Championship finals with the Hungarian national team when they were the last team to be eliminated in the additional qualifying round. After successfully qualifying for the main round of the third-tier European club competition EuroChallenge for a Hungarian club team in 2010 , in which they only narrowly failed to make it through to the top sixteen teams, they surprisingly reached the Final Four tournament in the 2011/12 EuroChallenge In the second main round, the German representative Telekom Baskets Bonn was left behind. The final tournament was hosted and the tournament was held in Debrecen . In the semifinals they lost just four points against the eventual winner Beşiktaş Milangaz and then lost the game for third place. Trotter was recognized by the specialist portal eurobasket.com as the best player in his position in this competition. In national competitions, Trotter and Szolnok have twice won the championship and cup double .

For the 2012/13 season Trotter moved to the Russian basketball club from Nizhny Novgorod . A season later he moved to league rivals Triumph Lyubertsy near Moscow. After an injury in qualifying for the 2015 European Championship , Trotter's contract was canceled before the start of the season and he returned to Szolnoki Olaj in early 2014, with whom he again won the double in Hungary. For the following season, Trotter moved to the top Greek league to KAOD in Drama , which, however, narrowly missed the play-offs for the championship in ninth place in the Basket League 2014/15 . Then the team has been logged out of the professional game operation and Trotter moved to the Basket League 2015/16 to eighth-Koroivos of Amaliada at the Greek west coast of the Peloponnese . After the club signed another legionnaire in the backcourt in early 2016 with Aleksandar Ćapin , they finally agreed in mid-March 2016 to terminate the contract and Trotter switched to the top Italian division Serie A to Enel New Basket from Brindisi on the northern edge of the Ionian Sea in the Adriatic .
