South Korea took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal with a delegation of 50 athletes (38 men and 12 women) in 27 competitions in five sports.

The South Korean athletes each won one gold and one silver medal and four bronze medals. Olympic champion was the featherweight freestyle wrestler Yang Jung-mo . The gold medal meant the first ever Olympic victory for a South Korean athlete at the Olympic Games.
