Oral Fixation Vol. 2 is Shakira's second English-language music album after Laundry Service from 2001 and the direct successor to Fijación Oral Vol. 1 . It was published for the first time on November 25, 2005 and launched a second time in April 2006, slightly modified.

The second version of the sound carrier also features the song "Hips Don't Lie" with Wyclef Jean , which became an international hit. So far, the album has sold around four million times worldwide.

The album title refers to the term oral fixation from Freudian psychoanalysis .

Cover

The album cover is a nod to the story of Adam and Eve . As Eva, the naked Shakira holds the forbidden apple from the tree of knowledge in her hand. A naked baby is sitting on a branch and is reaching for the apple. A tendril hides Shakira's breasts.

style

Stylistically, the album is Shakira's most varied work to date. In addition to ostensible rock and pop elements, there are also various other influences. In the song “How Do You Do”, for example, Gregorian monk chants stand out, while “Don't Bother” is sometimes assigned to alternative rock . The title “ Timor ”, in which a children's choir is also involved, in turn allows dance floor comparisons.

censorship

The album was censored in many Middle Eastern countries . In the versions published there, the song "How Do You Do" is missing because it asks questions about the existence and attitude of God . In addition, the cover was changed so that not just a tendril but a whole bush hides Shakira's breasts and bare belly.

In Indonesia , the song "Timor", which deals with the independence of East Timor from Indonesia, has been censored . Among other things, it was renamed “It's Alright”.
