The regional bus East Bavaria GmbH (DB Ostbayernbus) is a bus company in Eastern Bavaria with headquarters in Regensburg .
history
- DB Ostbayernbus was created on October 1, 1989 from a merger of the rail bus and post bus lines in the Bavarian administrative districts of Lower Bavaria , Upper Palatinate and the eastern part of Upper Franconia as well as in the district of Mühldorf in Upper Bavaria .
- In 1996, DB Ostbayernbus started the first natural gas-powered intercity bus system in Germany with the hiking buses known as " Igelbus ".
- To date, a total of nine transport communities have been set up in the area served by DB Ostbayernbus: Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Kelheim (1996), Verkehrsgemeinschaft Rottal-Inn and Verkehrsgemeinschaft Amberg-Sulzbach (both 1997), local transport community Weiden-Neustadt an der Waldnaab (1999), Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Cham and Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Passau (both 2000), Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Deggendorf and Verkehrsgemeinschaft Straubinger Land (both 2002) and in 2011 the Upper Palatinate North tariff .
- DB Ostbayernbus had the following subsidiaries: RBP Regionalbusverkehr Passau Land GmbH (participation; from 1997), Šumava Bus sro (from 2004; renamed RDS bus in 2008 ) and Regental Kraftverkehrs GmbH (from 2004). All three companies mentioned no longer exist today.
- Since 2010 DB Ostbayernbus has had a computer-aided operations control system from init .
- On October 25, 2017, Germany's first autonomously driving regular service started in the DB Ostbayernbus traffic area. An autonomous minibus in Bad Birnbach connects the thermal baths, and later the train station, with the market square (line 7015).

DB Ostbayernbus is a wholly owned subsidiary of DB Regio AG .
Following the corporate identity of DB Regio for regional buses, almost all buses are painted traffic red and bear the "DB" logo and the Ostbayernbus brand name .
In various areas, the buses from DB Ostbayernbus are also designed with a local design, e.g. B. in the Tirschenreuth city bus .
