Otto Widmaier

Otto Widmaier (born April 1, 1927 in Stuttgart ) is a former German district administrator and administrative officer.

Life

Otto Widmaier is a son of Ravensburger and Stuttgart regional court president Theodor Widmaier. He attended elementary school in Waiblingen and Ravensburg and a grammar school in Ravensburg until 1943. Then he was an air force helper in Friedrichshafen and Karlsruhe until 1945 . He was wounded in a bomb attack in Friedrichshafen and released from the hospital as unfit for duty. From January to July 1946 he attended a grammar school in Böblingen and passed the Abitur . He completed a subsequent apprenticeship as a carpenter in the spring of 1948 with the journeyman's examination .

From 1948 to 1952 Widmaier then studied law in Tübingen . During his studies he became a member of AMV Stochdorphia Tübingen . In 1952 he passed the first and in 1956 the second state law examination. After various positions in administration, at the courts and at the University of Tübingen , he was the first state official at the Schwäbisch Hall district office from 1962 to 1964 and in the same position at the Calw district office from 1964 to 1966 .

1966 was non-party Widmaier with support from the CDU to the District Administrator of the district Heilbronn selected. In this office he was Eduard Hirsch's successor and was re-elected several times.

During his term of office from 1966 to 1989, the Baden-Württemberg district reform of 1973 , which considerably enlarged the district of Heilbronn, and the parallel regional and community reform in Baden-Württemberg from 1968 to 1975 , which also brought about far - reaching changes. In addition, the Heilbronn district had to set up important institutions such as vocational schools and hospitals during this time .

Widmaier is married and has two sons and a daughter with his wife Friedel.

Awards

In 1980 Otto Widmaier received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon, in 1989 the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
