Ernst Kaspar Otto von Glasenapp (born September 24, 1811 in Breslau , † November 12, 1893 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 30th Infantry Brigade .

Life

Otto was a son of the Prussian Colonel a. D. Otto Heinrich von Glasenapp (1752-1830) and his wife Wilhelmine, born von Gerskow († 1846).

Career

Glasenapp visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . Subsequently, on July 26, 1828, he was transferred to the 7th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as Portepeefähnrich and in mid-March 1830 advanced to Second Lieutenant . He rose to battalion adjutant on December 1, 1833, became a regimental adjutant on October 2, 1841, and in this position was promoted to prime lieutenant in mid-December 1846 . As adjutant he was in command of the 9th Division from December 16, 1848 to February 13, 1850 . Then Glasenapp was transferred to the adjutantage and promoted to captain. This was followed on June 18, 1853 as a company commander with a patent from June 13, 1849 in the 24th Infantry Regiment . He was promoted to major on April 15, 1856 and at the same time transferred to Krossen as commander of the 1st Battalion in the 12th Landwehr Regiment . On May 8, 1860, Glasenapp was commissioned to lead the 1st Battalion in the 12th Combined Infantry Regiment, from which the 6th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 52 emerged on July 1, 1860 . On this date he advanced to lieutenant colonel and commander of the 1st battalion. On October 18, 1861 he was promoted to colonel and transferred as commander to the 2nd Posensche Infantry Regiment No. 19 . On January 14, 1862 he received the Order of the Red Eagle III.
