The PS22 Chorus is an elementary school choir at Public School 22 in Staten Island , New York City . It consists of 60–70 fifth graders and is directed by Gregg Breinberg. The students of the choir are selected every year at the beginning of the school year. They meet twice a week and perform at school events as well as special events in and around New York. The choir became famous through videos on the Internet platform YouTube and through their appearance at the 2011 Academy Awards in Los Angeles. By July 2014, the choir's videos had been viewed over 63 million times.

The choir is known for singing edited R&B and pop songs, most notably for its interpretations by artists such as Tori Amos and Björk . Sometimes the primary school students also sing songs written by Breinberg himself.

The children's choir was founded in 2000 by the music teacher Gregg "Mr. B" Breinberg. The choir has had its own blog since September 2006 and has become an internet sensation thanks to its YouTube videos. Numerous radio and television appearances as well as collaborations with renowned artists followed.
2006/2007
- The choir performed for Tori Amos in the Sony Atrium in New York City.

2007/2008
- The children of the PS22 Chorus sang with the New Zealand band Crowded House at a concert in New York.
2008/2009
- The PS22 chorus provides the background vocals for three songs from the band Passion Pit's debut album "Manners" .
- The choir performed on the American television station ABC .
- Before a concert at Madison Square Garden , the choir sang for Stevie Nicks , front woman for Fleetwood Mac .
2009/2010
- The children were visited by the actors of the film Fame and received a check for $ 30,000 for new music equipment from local sponsors.
- They sang for Beyoncé and Lady Gaga at an award ceremony .
- Along with rapper Common , the students performed at the National Tree Lighting Fest at the White House in Washington, DC , singing for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden .
- While on tour, Celtic Woman attended the PS22 Chorus and sang with them at a concert at Radio City Music Hall.
- After the reggae singer Matisyahu heard the children's choir's version of his song "One Day", he visited the students in New York and sang with them in Manhattan .
2010/2011
- The students performed at the New Yorkers for Children charity.
- The children performed with Matisyahu at ONEXONE, a charity supported by Matt Damon .
- Kylie Minogue visited elementary school students in Staten Island to sing with them.
- Bruce Cohen and Anne Hathaway visited the choir in New York and announced that the PS 22 Chorus will perform at the 2011 Academy Awards in Los Angeles , California .
- The PS22 Chorus sang at a concert at Disneyland , Anaheim .
- On February 27, 2011, the students performed at the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood .
- The kids appeared with Katy Perry on the Oprah Winfrey Show at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
- American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook visited the students and sang with them.
