The 65th Paris – Nice cycle race took place from March 11th to 18th, 2007. It was held in a prologue and seven stages over a distance of 1,253.7 kilometers. The Professional Continental Team Agritubel and all ProTeams except Unibet.com were invited to the race, Astana only with a wildcard. Then the UCI threatened to cancel the race, whereupon the organizer ASO de facto withdrew the race from the racing series and from the world association and it is now organized as a free national race of the French cycling association FFC. Shortly afterwards, the UCI issued a ban on all ProTeams and Professional Continental Teams from Paris – Nice, as only third-class teams are allowed to take part in national races. The teams T-Mobile , La Francaise des Jeux , Gerolsteiner , Bouygues Télécom , Rabobank and Cofidis had nevertheless guaranteed their start in the race. A compromise was found a week before the start, so that the race can take place without starting bans. However, even after a decision by an ordinary court, Unibet.com was not allowed to participate in the race.
