Passion window

The Passion Window in the Catholic Church of St-Ronan in Locronan , a French commune in the Finistère department in the Brittany region , was created between 1476 and 1479. The stained glass window was included in the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique in 1845 .

The central window in the choir comes from an unknown workshop. It shows various scenes from the life and suffering of Jesus : Raising Lazarus , entry of Jesus into Jerusalem , Last Supper , Jesus and the sleeping disciples on the Mount of Olives, arrest of Jesus, Jesus before the high priest Kajaphas , Jesus is scourged, Jesus carries the cross, erection of the cross, crucifixion , descent from the cross, burial of Christ , resurrection of Jesus Christ and Christ's descent into hell .

The coat of arms of Franz II can be seen in the tracery at the top . Angels hold the coat of arms of Brittany below. Another ten angels carry banners.

The largely poorly preserved window was restored and supplemented by Marcel Delon from 1902 to 1906. The last restorations took place from 1975 to 1978 and 2003 by the workshop of Jean-Jacques Grüber , who also removed the window in 1942 to protect it from war damage.
