Patrizia Ciofi (born June 7, 1967 in Casole d'Elsa ) is an Italian lyric coloratura soprano . The focus of her repertoire ranges from the late baroque ( Vivaldi , Handel ) to Mozart's operas and Italian bel canto by Donizetti , Bellini , Rossini and Verdi . The voice of Ciofi has an individual, unmistakable timbre that is a bit dark in color for a soprano at this altitude and sounds slightly veiled.

Patrizia Ciofi studied with Anastasia Tomasewska-Schepis at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and at the Istituto Musicale Pietro Mascagni in Livorno . She also attended master classes with Shirley Verrett , Carlo Bergonzi , Alberto Zedda , and Giorgio Gualerzi. She is the winner of various competitions.

She made her debut in Gino Negri's Giovanni Sebastiano at the Teatro Comunale in Florence. This was followed by appearances as Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni on various Italian and foreign theaters, and from 1991 to 1993 an engagement at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa in various Verdi operas.

In 1996 Patrizia Ciofi sang her star role of Lucia for the first time in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor in Savona , which she recorded in 1998 in the original French version for Dynamics, with international success. She made her debut at La Scala in 1997 as Violetta in La traviata under Riccardo Muti ; at the same house she also appeared in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore (1997 and 2001).

In October and November 2017, Patrizia Ciofi sang the title role in Bellini's Norma at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège .
