Paul Oakenfold (* 30th August 1963 in London , England ) is a producer and trance - DJ .

Career

In the 1980s, Oakenfold talent scout was for Champion Records and later for profiles Records in London, where he, among others discoverer of bands like Boys Do not Cry was and contracts with DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince or Salt-n-Pepa negotiated . He later also became a promoter and agent for the Beastie Boys and Run DMC

In 1987 Oakenfold and his friends Trevor Fung and Ian St. Paul spent several months on the Spanish island of Ibiza , where they became enthusiastic about dance club music. Influenced by the sounds of Ibiza, Italian disco, soul and house music, Oakenfold produced the Happy Mondays , Pills 'n' Thrills 'n' Bellyaches , followed by productions for U2 , Massive Attack , Arrested Development , The Cure , Snoop Doggy Dogg , Ice Cube , Simply Red , New Order and The Shamen , many of which have appeared on his label Perfecto Records .

But Oakenfold not only produced, but also mixed. He started DJing as a teenager, and in the 1990s he peaked as a DJ at Cream from 1997 to 1999. During this time, he began to focus on the US audience with Tranceport . His fame grew through his work on the score for Password Swordfish , Matrix Reloaded , Matrix Revolutions , The Bourne Identity , Collateral and Stormbreaker .

In 2002 Oakenfold released his first solo album, Bunkka , on which he worked with artists such as Nelly Furtado ( The Harder They Come ), Emilíana Torrini ( Hold Your Hand ) and Shifty Shellshock , the front man of Crazy Town ( Starry Eyed Surprise ). The Tiësto remix of his song "Southern Sun" (vocals: Carla Werner ) was voted Tune of the Year in Armin van Buuren's radio show A State of Trance in 2002.

In 2003, he remixed the Elvis Presley - Song "Rubberneckin '". In 2006 he worked with Brittany Murphy on the track Faster Kill Pussycat . In 2009 he produced the song Celebration for Madonna .
