With the permission of Abbot Konrad Schmid from Heiligenkreuz Abbey , or the Lower Austrian lords for the sovereign , they opened a new quarry on Leithaberg in 1551 , which has been anchored in the consciousness of experts since the Roman Castrum located here . Among the earliest Italians working in Kaisersteinbruch we find Antonius and Pietro Solari, Antonius Gardesoni , Antonius Pozzo , Bartholomäus Pethan , Elias- and Alexius Payos , Pietro Maino Maderno in the middle of the 16th century . Their names are primarily documented by the imperial buildings.
Schweizerhofbrunnen
Before that, Solari worked in Wiener Neustadt , was involved in the construction of the official building, one of the main shops of the stonemasonry and bricklaying trade next to the royal seat of Vienna, for which the stone masons of the quarry "near Wilfleinsdorf , or near Winden " (the name at the time) were also responsible. This white, very hard limestone , rediscovered near Vienna, was selected for the basin of a tubular fountain in the innermost core of the Vienna Hofburg , the Schweizerhofbrunnen . In the entire literature this fountain is assigned to the architect and painter Pietro Ferrabosco , he can only have written the plan drawing. The only known sculptor in the quarry during those years, Pietro Solari, carved it in stone.
Stallburg of the Vienna Hofburg
On behalf of Emperor Ferdinand I , the Renaissance palace around the square arcaded courtyard was converted into court stables from 1558 to 1562, under the direction of Hans Saphoy , master builder of St. Stephen, with the brothers Antonius and Pietro Solari and Antonius Gardesoni.
Marriage to Elisabeth Wollerin
Work in Wiener Neustadt is documented in 1563/83. Pietro married Elisabeth, daughter of master mason Anton Woller. The bricklayer Anton Woller was born in Trento , worked in Wiener Neustadt from 1543, received citizenship in 1550 , and was designated city master in 1564. In the 16th century, Gandolf von Kienburg, as the owner of Kottingbrunn Palace, had a new main facade built. In the Renaissance style, the medieval building fabric was strictly standardized. Peter Solari is documented in this work.
Antonius Solari's request was approved in 1584
Abbot Ulrich Molitor from Heiligenkreuz Abbey recorded on December 6th, 1584 .. that at the intercession of honest people, we also admitted and approved the diligent request of the honorable Antonius Solari, stonemason and sculptor, that he would have a new plot of land on the Leithaberg on the Heiligenkreuz House of God Looking for a quarry and working in it should and may, but the previous stonemasons, if the stone quarries of the house of God existed, can remain undeterred and calm with theirs. From such a quarry he, Antonius Solari, owes and owes the interest and the inventory money to hand us from the house of God.
Antonius Solari † 1586
Brother Pietro wrote on January 7, 1587 .. I, Master Peter Solar, sculptor, hereby confess that Master Hans Baptista Schio, stonemason at Leithaberg, owed my brother Antonius Solar the salary of 212 gulden Eidtlohn. But because my brother passed away with death and such 212 guilders come to me hereditary .

Hans Schio did the same for the due payment of all and every creditors .. the matter prospered on a crida .. so that more than 5 shillings a penny fell on the guilder and 133 guilders were allocated to me for the 212 guilders in cash .
