history

Probably in the 9th / 10th Century Wends were settled here . The village lord was a Frankish nobleman named Poppo . In 1303 the place was first mentioned in the Würzburg fief book as "Boppen winds". At that time the fiefdom was the Reichsministeriale Herdegen von Gründlach . The property of the Gründlacher inherited to the Hohenlohe-Brauneck and from there at the latest in 1364 to the Bamberg cathedral chapter.

At the end of the 18th century there were 9 properties in Poppenwind. The high court was exercised by the Bamberg center of Höchstadt . The village and township government had the Oblei Unterstürmig the Dompropstei Bamberg held. The landlords were the Oblei Unterstürmig (4 courtyards), the Nuremberg State Almosenamt- Vogtei Lonnerstadt (1 courtyard, 1 drip house ), the Nuremberg owner von Gugel (1 courtyard, 1 Sölde ), the Teutonic Order Coming Nuremberg , Spital St. Elisabeth (1 courtyard). There was also the shepherd's house, which was used by the entire community.

As part of the community edict, Poppenwind was assigned to the Gremsdorf tax district formed in 1808 . In 1818 the rural community Gremsdorf was formed, to which the place belonged. In the voluntary jurisdiction, two properties were subordinate to the patricians of Gugel until 1830.
