The John Glenn Columbus International Airport ( IATA code : CMH , ICAO code : KCMH ) is an international airport in the American city of Columbus in the US state of Ohio .
In the state of Ohio, it is the airport with the second highest passenger throughput after Cleveland Airport and was ranked 49th in the United States in 2017. The airport operator is the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA).
Location and transport links
John Glenn Columbus International Airport is located 11 kilometers northeast of downtown Columbus. It has a connection point to Interstate 670 and US Highway 62 , which run west of the airport on a common route. Interstate 270 also runs north of the airport.
John Glenn Columbus International Airport is buses in the public transport involved, the lines 7 and AirConnect Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Central Ohio Transit Authority regularly connect it to the center of Columbus.
history
From May 22, 2007, the low-cost airline Skybus Airlines used the airport as a hub . Due to financial problems, it ceased operations on April 5, 2008.
The airport used to be called Port Columbus International Airport , but in 2016 it was named after John H. Glenn , a former astronaut and US Senator from Columbus.

The airport has two runways . The passenger terminal has 44 gates in three concourses.

John Glenn Columbus International Airport is used by eight airlines . Southwest Airlines has the highest market share , followed by American Airlines including American Eagle , Delta Air Lines including Delta Connection and United Airlines including United Express . Incidents
- On January 7, 1994, United Express Flight 6291 , a British Aerospace Jetstream 41 , crashed 1.9 km from runway 28L due to a pilot's error.
