Project 1300 Code name: Chelnok ( Russian Челнок for " dugout canoe ") is a class of small mine clearance boats that was developed by the Soviet Navy for the remote-controlled clearing of sea mines in rivers. Six boats were built by the Soviet Union from 1979 onwards.
description
Project 1300 was developed for clearing ground mines in water depths of three to thirty meters, such as those found in rivers. The boats are to be transported on trucks or trains to the scene of action, where they travel a distance by remote control and use a large cylinder coil (solenoid) to generate a strong magnetic field that simulates a large target ship for the detonators in magnetic mines and causes them to explode. A similar technique was used by the boats of Project 1253 and the German Seal class for deeper waters.
The bow and stern have the same shape and are each equipped with a propeller so that the boats do not have to turn in narrow rivers. The hulls are made of steel and reinforced to better withstand mine explosions.
The boats are not armed.
Units and whereabouts
The prototype Project 1300 and five boats of the modified Project 13000 with modified mast were built. By 2014, two were decommissioned.
