Project 23900 is a future class of amphibious landing craft / helicopter carriers for the Russian Navy .
history
After the failed purchase of two Mistral-class ships , Russia decided to design a similar project itself. The project planning work was carried out by the Krylov Research Center in St. Petersburg.
Two different projects were developed for a smaller and a larger class of ships. The smaller class should be called "Priboi-", the larger "Lawina class" ( Russian Лавина , "avalanche"). The Priboi-class ships should be able to accommodate eight helicopters and have a conventional hull. The Lawina draft was later established as the basis for Project 23900.
Initially, two ships were ordered for a total of just under 100 billion rubles. The keel was laid on July 20, 2020.
technology
The ships of Project 23900 will displace around 25,000 ts and reach a cruising speed of 18 kn with a range of 5000 nm. It is not yet known whether the ships will receive conventional or nuclear propulsion. The two propellers are mounted in gondolas . The hull should be a half- trimaran .
At the bow and stern there are well decks , over which landing craft can be launched.
Armament and equipment
The main armament of the ships are the helicopters stationed on them. 16 Kamow Ka-27 / 29 and Ka-52K helicopters are planned per ship .
The secondary armament consists of a 76.2 mm naval gun AK-176 M. The sea-based variant Panzir-M of the Panzir-S1 air defense missile system and the short-range defense system AK-630 M-2 are used for air defense .
A project 23900 ship can carry up to 1,000 marines with equipment, including 60 floating tanks and 20 to 30 main battle tanks . Non-buoyant equipment and the soldiers are landed with 2 landing boats of the type Project 12061 M "Murena" or 4 boats of the type Project 11770 M "Serna".
