Project 12700 code name: Aleksandrite ( Russian Александрит for the chrysoberyl variety "Alexandrite") is a class of mine clearance vessels of the Russian Navy that was developed to search for sea mines in the coastal apron. One ship entered service in 2016 and more are planned.

description

The bridge superstructures of Alexander Obuchow 2016.

Hull and sonar

The hulls of Project 12700 are made of fiberglass and were manufactured from one piece using a vacuum infusion technique developed by Siemens . Originally, the ships of the class were supposed to carry a French sonar system for searching for mines, but since sanctions were imposed on the Russian Federation in the course of the Crimean crisis in 2014 , the delivery was refused in August 2015 and the planners procured another system.

On the aft ship there is a work platform on which a crane is mounted, with which search robots, autonomous drones or even classic clearing equipment can be brought in and out.

Armament

The boats are armed with a 30 mm L / 63 AK-306 turret on the forecastle and two KPWTs in single mounts. Next two can Igla - aircraft missiles are used against flying targets.
