Project 266 had a double-walled steel hull, but was equipped with a self-protection system in order not to trigger any sea mines with magnetos. The magnetic field of the fuselage was forty times less than that of the previous project 264 . The motors were mounted on dampers and the propellers were optimized to reduce noise emissions. In the ship's bottom there was a recess for a retractable dome, which contained the sonar systems.
The armament consisted of two 30 mm L / 63 AK-230 anti-aircraft towers in front of and behind the structure, which stood on the longitudinal axis. Later, in addition to the funnel, a 25 mm L / 70 2M-3 twin gun was retrofitted on both starboard and port sides . These weapons were not at the same height, but the starboard gun was positioned a little further back, so that there was still space for a dinghy on the starboard side . Two 250 mm RBU-1200 water bomb launchers were mounted on the forecastle, on either side of the forward anti-aircraft gun.
Whereabouts
45 Project 266 ships were built between 1964 and 1969 for the Soviet Navy in Leningrad and Khabarovsk . The ships were decommissioned in the 1980s.
