The province of Chucuito belongs to the administrative region of Puno and is located in the south of Peru . It has an area of 3978 km². The 2017 census counted 89,002 inhabitants in the province, 10 years earlier the population was 126,259. The administrative seat is July .
Geographical location
The province of Chucuito is located in the south of the Puno region, on the south bank of Lake Titicaca and extends over the arid Andean highlands south of the lake. The longitudinal extent in NNE-SSW direction is 110 km.
In the north the province of Chucuito borders on the province of Yunguyo , in the southeast the state border with Bolivia runs , in the west lies the neighboring province of El Collao .
