The Condesuyos Province is one of eight provinces in the Arequipa region in southern Peru . The province has an area of ​​6958.4 km². At the 2017 census, 16,118 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 20,695, in 2007 it was 18,991. The provincial administration is located in the small town of Chuquibamba .

Geographical location

The province of Condesuyos is located about 605 km south-southeast of the state capital Lima . It extends over the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The river Río Ocoña and its left tributary Río Chichas drain the area south to the sea. The province is flanked by the Solimana volcanoes in the west and Coropuna in the east.

The province of Condesuyos borders the province of Caravelí to the west, the province of La Unión to the northwest , the region of Cusco to the north, the province of Castilla to the east and the province of Camaná to the south .

Administrative division

The province of Condesuyos is divided into eight districts (Distritos) . The district of Chuquibamba is the seat of the provincial administration.
