geography

Pustleben and the other two districts Mitteldorf and Oberdorf of the former municipality of Wipperdorf with a total of 1400 inhabitants are located in a large basin on the Wipper between Hainleite and the foothills of the southern Harz . The former federal road 80 (now state road 3080) runs through the district from Nordhausen to Kassel . The Nordhausen – Kassel railway runs through the Wipper valley with the Wipperdorf stop in the Pustleben district. The federal motorway 38 runs immediately east of Pustleben. The state road 1034 leads through the three districts to Kehmstedt .

history

The onomastics of place names show that the ending -leben from “leiba” (denotes an old settlement, a hereditary estate, relic, legacy, but sometimes also related to liewe = residence; since 1100 -leben, previously leiba, leva, leve , originally meant to remain, to remain, as a contrast to unsteady storage places) and is usually linked to a personal name. The first written mention is from the year 1093. Count Heinrich von Northeim gave his monastery Bursfelde properties in Busteleven. Buste- probably comes from the man's name Busso. “Possession of Busso” can therefore be accepted as a free translation. Furthermore, Pustleben was mentioned on January 9, 1152 in Certificate No. 172 in Mainz Document Book II. The agricultural district emerged from the Pustleben monastery . It was probably monks who drained the land in the area and made it arable. After that, after the abolition of the monastery, a manor developed , which became a people's property after the Second World War . After the political change , new forms of ownership were created, and Gut Wipperdorf Milchproduktions-GmbH was created .

On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Wipperdorf was created through the merger of the previous municipalities of Mitteldorf and Pustleben.

Pustleben was incorporated into the city of Bleicherode on January 1, 2019 with the municipality of Wipperdorf.
