history

After the establishment of the Vernoye fortress , the local authorities decided to found several Cossack villages around Vernoye in order to strengthen the eastern borders of the Russian Empire . Initially, this outpost, established in 1857, housed 40 Cossacks, and in 1859 another 143 families settled here. In 1860, today's place was founded as stanzija Ljubawinskaja (станция Любавинская). In 1900 the Archangel Michael Church was built. In 1902 the village was renamed Stanzija Kaskelenskaja (станция Каскеленская).

On May 8, 1887, a strong earthquake struck, in which over 200 buildings in the village were destroyed. From 1918 the place hießt Troizkoje (Троицкое), since 1929 it got its present name.

In 1963 Qaskeleng was granted city rights.
