history
Raan was first mentioned as Ran in 1391 . In the 15th century there was probably a manor in Raan, which was converted into a castle-like complex with farm buildings around 1580 by the Lords of Puchberg . In 1622, Vinzenz Muschinger , who was also the owner of the lordship of Horn and Rosenburg , acquired the town and castle of Raan. In 1681 Raan came to the Hoyos-Sprinzenstein family , who still own the preserved remains of the castle and use it as a forester's house.
Since the municipal amalgamation in 1972, Raan has been part of the large municipality of Schönberg am Kamp .
