The Rabeninsel and Saaleaue near Böllberg is a nature reserve in the city of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0165 is 90.7  hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area "Saale, Elster, Luppe floodplain between Merseburg and Halle" and the EU bird sanctuary "Saale-Elster-Aue south hall" and complete the conservation area surrounded "Saaleaue". The area has been under protection since 1996 (date of regulation: May 22, 1996). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Halle (Saale).

The nature reserve is located in the Saale floodplain in the southwest of the city of Halle (Saale). It includes the Rabeninsel , which lies between the Saale and the Wilder Saale, and part of the Saale floodplain that surrounds this area between the Elisabeth-Saale in the north, the canal - a relic of the Saale-Elster canal that was started in the 1930s but not completed - to the west and at this as Sohlgleite designed military subsequent to the branch of the Wild Saale area in the south. In the east, the nature reserve is bounded by the Saale. The area at the lock is excluded from the scope of the nature conservation ordinance on Rabeninsel.

The banks of the Saale, Wilder Saale and Elisabeth-Saale are also accompanied by trees. North of Rabeninsel are grasslands and succession areas with reeds and reed canary grass reeds to find perennials and veil corridors and scattered woodland stands of birch and willow bushes. The area between the Wilder Saale and the canal is partly made of wood. To the west, grassland areas are also connected here.

The nature reserve offers u. a. Habitat for long-eared owl , tawny owl , red and black kite , marsh harrier , shrike , Kingfisher , lapwing , ringed plover , Nightingale , Blackcap , Klappergrasmücke , Dunnock , Zilpzalp and Beutelmeise . All of these birds also breed here regularly. Also suitable honey buzzard , goshawk , Eurasian Hobby , black , green , middle and lesser spotted woodpecker , stock dove , corncrake , partridge , Collared Flycatcher and Willow Tit ago, however, do not breed here regularly. The forests of the Raven Island are visited by several thousand rooks and jackdaws as a sleeping place in winter . Even ducks , divers, waders and other birds use the nature reserve in the winter than resting and sleeping place.

Other animals found in the nature reserve include: a. the bats Serotine and lesser noctule that mice field mouse , yellow-necked mouse , wood mouse , harvest mouse , vole and bank vole and shrew field , forest and pygmy shrew . Flat pond clams and painter clams are native to the Saale .
