The Pfingstanger near Wörmlitz is a nature reserve in the city of Halle (Saale) and in the communities of Teutschenthal and Schkopau in the Saale district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0183 is around 125  hectares . The city of Halle accounts for 108.92 hectares of this. The area is completely part of the FFH area "Saale-, Elster-, Luppe-Aue between Merseburg and Halle" and the EU bird sanctuary "Saale-Elster-Aue south of Halle". The nature reserve "Abtei und Saaleaue bei Planene" and a little downstream the nature reserve " Rabeninsel und Saaleaue bei Böllberg " are connected a little upstream . The nature reserve is the conservation area surrounded "Saale". The area has been under protection since 1998 (date of regulation: October 13, 1998). The responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the city of Halle (Saale) and the Saalekreis.

The nature reserve is located southwest of Halle in a loop in the Saale. It stretches along the Saale Aue from just below the road bridge at Röpzig to just above the railway bridge on the Halle – Hann railway line. Münden and largely includes the course of the Saale . It includes a mosaic of alluvial forest , typical floodplain waterways, wet meadows , reed beds and dry and semi-arid grasslands . The northern part of the nature reserve on the right bank of the Saale is characterized by hardwood floodplain forest areas with oaks and elms. In the herb layer settle u. a. Arum , high cowslip , hollow larkspur , lesser celandine and yellow anemone .

The hardwood floodplain merges along the bank of the Saale into a woodland with a softwood floodplain character . Furthermore, wet meadows with are Hochstaudenfluren , country-reed corridors and small reed beds and Oozeling corridors to find. Blue loosestrife and cobblestone communities and stocks of dewberry , yellow meadow rue , swamp wolf milk , long-leaved blue loosestrife , hyssop-leaved loosestrife and black-eared sedge and reed settle on the wet meadows . The small reeds are made up of common swamp rush , salt pond rush and common frog spoon . In addition, numerous other plants have been identified.

In the south-east of the protected area, the subsoil is formed by medium red sandstone . Here you can find dense shrubbery and small-scale dry and semi-arid grasslands, on which meadow sage , Austrian flax , heron's bill and cypress wolf milk bloom in spring . Towards the Saale there is a steep slope that is grazed with sheep for care.

The nature reserve offers a species-rich avifauna a suitable habitat. So breed here u. a. Black and red kite , honey buzzard , red-backed shrike , shrike , nightingale , Warbler and barred warbler . The area is also of great importance as a resting and feeding area for birds, as well as a winter resting area for ducks . The partial temporary ponds and marshes are habitat of earth , cross and toad and the newt . Furthermore, over 40 snail and over 70 butterfly species have been identified in the nature reserve .

Part of the Pfingstanger was used for military purposes until 1991. In the southeast, the nature reserve borders on a residential area.
