The porphyry landscape near Gimritz is a nature reserve in the town of Wettin-Löbejün in the Saale district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0142 is 290  hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area "porphyry hill country northwest Hall" and mostly from the conservation area surrounded "Saale". The area has been under protection since 1994 (date of regulation: August 12, 1994). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Saalekreis.

The nature reserve is located northwest of Halle (Saale) in the Lower Saale Valley Nature Park . It puts a representative vegetation mosaic of the nationwide unique porphyry hill landscape on the edge of the Saale valley under protection, which is mainly characterized by open landscapes. The porphyry hill landscape is cut through by several deep erosion valleys.

The open landscapes are occupied by silicate rock corridors, dry and semi-arid lawns and dwarf shrub heaths . There are also warmth-loving bushes. Some abandoned orchards can also be found in the nature reserve. Trees can be found in the stream valleys. In some cases, grassland and extensively used arable land , some of which have fallen fallow or are being abandoned, are included in the nature reserve. Ruderal vegetation can often be found here. Settle on the dry grass and a. Sticky Miere and Five-Man Spark . Field herbs such as finch seed , field black cumin and toothed rapunze settle on fields and field margins as well as other ruderal locations . Furthermore, z. The area is habitat a diverse Avifauna , including Rotmilan , Rook , partridge , Wendehals , Neuntöter , shrike , Nachtigall , Oriole , Sperbergrasmücke , Beutelmeise and Steinschmätzer . Even insects are present numerous. So live here u. a. Wild bees , ants , ground beetles , various spiders, grasshoppers and butterflies .

The area used to be grazed with sheep. Grazing ceased in the 1990s. As a result, locust trees and open grasslands have spread, endangering the valuable open land areas. The nature reserve borders on the Saale in the north-west and on Landesstraße 161 in the north. Otherwise, it borders on agricultural areas . In the north, the former Wallwitz – Wettin railway line runs through the nature reserve. Furthermore, pass through the area several rural roads , also called the trails are used. The connection between the two nature reserves should be restored by a green bridge . The NABU Sachsen-Anhalt had sued against the planning approval decision 2005 . In January 2007, the Federal Administrative Court classified the planning approval decision as illegal and therefore not enforceable.
