The Salzatal between Langenbogen and Köllme is a nature reserve in the municipalities of Teutschenthal and Salzatal in the Saale district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0366 is around 117  hectares in size. It is to a large extent part of the FFH area "Salzatal at Langenbogen" and the EU bird sanctuary "Salty Lake and Salzatal" and most of the conservation area surrounded "Salzatal". The area has been under protection since 2003 (date of regulation: May 13, 2003). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Saalekreis.

The nature reserve is located west of Halle (Saale) in the Lower Saale Valley Nature Park . It protects the Salzatal between Langenbogen and Köllme and a few small side valleys as well as the partially steep slopes adjoining the valleys, on which red sandstone formations emerge in places .

The Salza flows through the nature reserve in an extended and deepened bed . It is often accompanied by trees and shrubs, some of which are formed as alluvial forests with willows and poplars. The herb, which is endangered in Saxony-Anhalt, also settles here . In the north of the nature reserve there are two standing water bodies created as part of recultivation measures. Another area of ​​water has formed in the south of the protected area in a former meander of the Salza as a result of the elimination of dewatering in mining . Especially in the north and around the water area in the south of the protected area are reed reeds areas to find. In the south, flowery hay meadows adjoin the reed zones, which develop from pioneer couch grass. Hawkweeds , buttercups and ruderal plants settle here , including verbena , real catnip , snake eyes and Thuringian poplar . Grassland areas near Köllme are partly characterized as inland salt areas . Here u. a. Beach trident , beach milkweed , celery , thick-leaved goosefoot and salt bungee .

On the slopes of the valley there are sometimes trees made of privet , blackthorn , single hawthorn , dog and wine roses , elder and field elm . A small forest of oaks, hornbeams and linden trees grows east of the water surface in the south of the protected area . Open areas on the slopes are occupied by dry and semi -dry lawns, which are characterized as fescue-awl-grass-dry lawns, fescue-fescue-semi-dry lawns as well as fescue-feathered twigs-semi-dry lawns. Here u. a. Fine-leaved yarrow, Valais fescue, Danish tragacanth , gray scabies , bearded grass , straw flower and spring adonis . There are also orchards with oat meadows. Edge areas of arable land are habitat of various wild herbs, including sherardia , Schramm fumitory , field Klett chervil and summer Adonisröschen .

The damp Salzatal is the habitat of various birds , including marsh harrier , teal duck , coot , pond rail , little grebes and red-necked grebes as well as thrush and reed warblers . The shallow water and reed zones are feeding habitats for herons, water striders, sandpipers , snipes and other limicoles , divers and ducks . In autumn, large swarms of wagtails , swallows and finches can sleep in the reed zones . The reed zones are also the habitat of species-rich dragonfly and butterfly populations. Loess fragments on slope edges and steep walls serve as nesting sites for birds that create breeding caves and numerous species of wild bees . Dry lawns, tall herbaceous vegetation and woody plants accommodate z. B. Red-backed killer , wryneck , goldenhammer and blackcap . Various butterflies, wild bees and other groups of insects as well as spiders are also native here. Live in the nature reserve a. also brown hare , badger , tree and stone marten and great weasel . The salt locations are habitat u. a. of adapted invertebrate species.

Parts of the nature reserve are grazed with goats for care . A hiking trail runs through the nature reserve . The nature reserve is almost completely surrounded by agricultural land .
