The Sandberg is a nature reserve on the mountain of the same name in Querfurt in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0121 is 29.34  hectares in size. 9.2 hectares are left as a total reserve for undisturbed development. The area is completely part of the FFH area "Ziegelrodaer Buntsandsteinplateau" and surrounded by the landscape protection area "Unstrut-Triasland". It has been under protection since May 1, 1961 (date of regulation: March 30, 1961). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Saalekreis.

The nature reserve is located southeast of the Querfurt district of Ziegelroda in the Saale-Unstrut-Triasland nature park . It places a plant-geographically valuable grove beech forest in the Ziegelrodaer Forest under protection, which grows here in the central German dry area at its eastern limit of distribution. The forest stagnates on the southeast slope of the sand mountain belonging to the Ziegelrodaer red sandstone plateau. It is predominantly characterized by red beech . In addition, oaks and hornbeams grow thickly . The forest develops largely undisturbed with plenty of natural regeneration . Grow in wet locations Krautschicht u. a. Forest bluegrass, forest equestrian grass , hairy ridge and narrow-leaved wood ridge. Small and round-leaved wintergreens are very common .

The forest area is u. a. Habitat of stock pigeon , woodcock , tawny owl , black , gray and middle woodpecker . All of the bird species mentioned also breed here.

The nature reserve is completely surrounded by other forests. To the southwest in the direction of the Buchberg, valuable stocks of around 75 to 100-year-old red beeches adjoin the nature reserve.
