"Kuckenburger Hagen" nature reserve

The Kuckenburger Hagen is a nature reserve in the municipality of Obhausen in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0141 is around 72  hectares in size. It is congruent with the FFH area of the same name . The area has been under protection since 1994 (date of regulation: May 18, 1994). The responsible authority is the Upper Nature Conservation Authority of the Halle regional council.

The nature reserve is located west of Halle (Saale) in the area of ​​the Querfurter Platte . It puts a section of the Weidatal with its steeply sloping slopes between Obhausen in the south and the district Esperstedt in the north under protection in the otherwise agricultural landscape. The Weida flowing through the valley is partly accompanied by trees made of willow, alder and ash. A field maple - pedunculate oak forest grows on the slopes . Areas formerly used as a field or guarding are made up of species-rich semi- arid grassland with dry bushes, primarily from privet, Dogwood and blackthorn are ingested in different stages of succession . In addition, meadow orchards can be found. In the nature reserve grow u. a. Turkish lily , spotted arum , hollow lark's spur , spring adonis , celestial key , hawkweed and centaury .

The nature reserve is the habitat of u. a. Lesser Spotted Woodpecker , Wryneck , Red-backed Shrike , Great Gray Shrike , Yellowhammer , Nightingale and Whitethroat and a diverse insect fauna , including locusts as the field grasshoppers , butterflies and ground beetles . The mouse weasel is also native here.

The Federal Highway 38 crosses the reserve length up to 43 meters above the valley on the 453 meters south of Esperstedt lying Weida viaduct . The former Röblingen am See – Vitzenburg railway runs through the Weidatal.
