Rainer Frank (* 1965 in Berlin ) is a German actor .

Life

Training and beginnings

Rainer Frank completed his acting studies from 1987 to 1991 at the "Ernst Busch" Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin .

In 1991 he was awarded the Berliner Zeitung prize for his role as Freder in Illness of Youth (director: Angelika Waller ) at the Berliner Ensemble as “Best Young Actor” . He was a co-founder and member of the ensemble of the Theaterhaus Jena (1991–1995). From 1995 he had various theater engagements a. a. at the Wiener Festwochen , at the Schaubühne Lindenfels in Leipzig (as Hamlet), at the Volkstheater Rostock (Jean in Miss Julie and Tiger-Brown in Die Dreigroschenoper ), at the Theater in der Fabrik ( Staatsschauspiel Dresden ) and at the Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg (among others as Faust in Goethe's Urfaust ). From 1999 to 2001 he was engaged at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich .

Frankfurt theater

In 2002/03 he appeared as a guest at the Schauspiel Frankfurt . From the 2003/04 season he was a permanent member of the Schauspiel Frankfurt until 2009. Here he worked with directors such as Mark Zurmühle , Armin Petras , Andreas Kriegenburg , Peter Kastenmüller , Sebastian Baumgarten , Roger Vontobel , Martin Nimz and several times with Karin Neuhäuser . In 2004 he received the audience award at the Mülheim Theatertage for his role as Ernk in Kränk by Martin Heckmanns , a production by Simone Blattner of the Schauspiel Frankfurt.

Secretary Wurm in Kabale und Liebe (2003/04 season), Templar in Nathan the Wise (2004/05 season), Etienne in the salon comedy Flea in the Ear by Georges Feydeau (2005/06 season), Mayor Stockmann in Ein Volksfeind (2007 season / 08), Pavel Rjumin in summer guests from Maxim Gorki (2007/08), in Schürzinger Casimir and Karoline and Rodrigo / Emilia in Othello (each season 2008/09).

Hanover Theater

From the 2009/10 season until the end of the 2018/19 season he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Hanover Theater . In the 2013/14 season he was the doctor Tschebtykin in a new production of the Chekhov play Three Sisters , directed by Sascha Hawemann . He also played Oberon in the Shakespeare classic A Midsummer Night's Dream in a production by Florian Fiedler . In the 2014/15 season he took on the role of Lewin in a stage version by Anna Karenina in a production by Sascha Hawemann. In 2017 Frank played the German premiere of the one-person play Abrahams Kinder by the Norwegian actor Svein Tindberg in the Cumberland Gallery . Frank also works as a reciter .

Movie and TV

Frank, who works mainly as a theater actor, has occasionally stood in front of the camera for various film projects. He has taken on roles in feature films, television films, television series, and several documentaries on historical subjects and contemporary history .

On television he initially had episode roles a. a. in the television series Hinter Gittern - Der Frauenknast (1997–1998; as Daniel Fuchs, the husband of inmate Lollo Fuchs), For all cases Stefanie (2002; as a blind husband Marcel Konrad), In all friendship (2002; as the rebellious son of Jutta Wachowiak ) and SOKO Leipzig (2002; as ex-fiancé of the daughter of a Leipzig fruit seller).
