Rudd II government
The Rudd II government ruled Australia from June 27, 2013 to September 18, 2013. It was a Labor Party government .
Since December 3, 2007, a laboratory government ruled by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd . After a decline in the popularity of Rudd in the opinion polls, his deputy Julia Gillard challenged him and was elected the new Prime Minister by the Laboratory Group on June 24, 2010. In the early parliamentary elections on August 21, 2010 Labor lost 11 seats and only got 72 of the 150 seats in the House of Representatives . Labor could only maintain a slim majority with the support of a member of the Greens and three independents. Julia Gillard remained Prime Minister of a laboratory government. When Gillard's popularity declined in 2013, Rudd challenged her and was elected new Prime Minister by the party on June 26, 2013. The Labor Party clearly lost the parliamentary elections on September 7, 2013 . It received only 55 of the 150 seats in parliament, the Liberal Party (LIB) had 74 members, the National Party (NPA) 15. The following government was formed by a coalition of Liberals and National Party with the chairman of the Liberals, Tony Abbott , as Prime minister.
