Governor General Peter Cosgrove and the Turnbull Administration 2015

The Turnbull I government ruled Australia from September 15, 2015 to July 19, 2016. It was a coalition government of the Liberal Party (LIB) and the National Party (NPA).

Tony Abbott was Prime Minister of a coalition government of Liberal Party and National Party since September 18, 2013. On September 15, 2015 Abbott was defeated in a vote on the party chairmanship of his party rival Malcolm Turnbull , who also replaced him as Prime Minister.

In the parliamentary elections on July 2, 2016 , the Labor Party also won, missing an absolute majority with 69 of the 150 parliamentary seats. The Liberal Party had 60 members, the National Party 16. Turnbull remained Prime Minister of a coalition of Liberals and National Party.
