Gillard I government

The Gillard I government ruled Australia from June 24, 2010 to September 14, 2010. It was a Labor Party government .

Since December 3, 2007, a laboratory government ruled by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd . After a decline in the popularity of Rudd in the opinion polls, his deputy Julia Gillard challenged him and was elected the new Prime Minister by the Laboratory Group on June 24, 2010. In the early general election on August 21, 2010 , Labor lost 11 seats and only got 72 of the 150 seats in the House of Representatives . Labor could only maintain a slim majority with the support of a member of the Greens and three independents. Julia Gillard remained Prime Minister of a laboratory government.
