The regional constituency of West Styria (constituency 6C) is a regional constituency in Austria , which is formed in the case of elections to the National Council for the award of mandates in the first preliminary investigation . The constituency, founded in 2013, comprises the districts of Deutschlandsberg , Leibnitz and Voitsberg .

history

After the end of the state of Austria-Hungary , four constituencies were created for the area of Styria with the electoral code of 1918 for the election of the constituent national assembly, whereby for the area of today's regional constituency together with other areas the constituency of Central and Lower Styria (constituency 21) as well as the constituency of Oststeier (constituency 22) was formed. After the electoral code of 1923 was overruled by the Austro-Fascist government in 1934, the original division of constituencies was largely reintroduced after the Second World War with the constitutional law of October 19, 1945. With the National Council electoral code in 1971, there was a far-reaching reform of the constituencies, which reduced the number of constituencies in Austria to just nine. As a result, there was only one constituency for the federal state of Styria, the constituency of Styria (constituency 6). The entry into force of the National Option order 1992, the Austrian area was finally divided into 43 regional constituencies and thus introduced, a third investigation, the voitsberg district together with the district Graz environment for regional constituency Steiermark center (6B) and the districts Germany and Leibnitz for regional constituency Steiermark South (6C) were combined. In the course of the amalgamation of districts in the state of Styria, the regional constituencies in the state of Styria were reorganized on January 1, 2013. As a result, the Voitsberg district was separated from the Steiermark Mitte regional constituency and merged with the area of the former Steiermark Süd regional constituency to form the West Styria regional constituency.
