The Obersteiermark regional constituency (constituency 6D) is a regional constituency in Austria , which is formed in the case of elections to the National Council for the award of mandates in the first preliminary investigation . The constituency, founded in 2013, includes the districts of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag , Leoben , Liezen , Murau and Murtal .
history
After the end of the state of Austria-Hungary , four constituencies were created for the area of Styria with the electoral code of 1918 for the election of the constituent national assembly, with the constituency of Upper Styria (constituency 22) being formed for what is now the regional constituency. After the electoral code of 1923 was overruled by the Austro-Fascist government in 1934, the original division of constituencies was largely reintroduced after the Second World War with the constitutional law of October 19, 1945. With the National Council electoral code in 1971, there was a far-reaching reform of the constituencies, which reduced the number of constituencies in Austria to just nine. As a result, there was only one constituency for the federal state of Styria, the constituency of Styria (constituency 6). When the National Council electoral code came into force in 1992, the Austrian federal territory was finally divided into 43 regional constituencies and a third investigation procedure was introduced. As a result, the districts of Bruck an der Mur and Mürzzuschlag became the regional constituency of Styria North (6F), the districts of Leoben and Liezen became the regional constituency of Styria North-West (6G) and the districts of Judenburg , Knittelfeld and Murau became the regional constituency of Styria West (6H). In the course of the amalgamation of districts in the state of Styria, the regional constituencies in the state of Styria were reorganized on January 1, 2013. As a result, the previous regional constituencies of Styria North, Styria North-West and Styria West were merged to form the Upper Styria regional constituency.
