Reintal (Taufers)
The Reintal (sometimes written Raintal , Italian Val di Riva ), also simply called Rein , is a mountain valley in South Tyrol ( Italy ).
The high valley drained by the Reinbach is framed by the mighty mountain ridges of the Venediger Group and the Rieserferner Group . In the west, it flows into the Tauferer Tal , or Taufers for short, at Sand in Taufers , on whose municipal area it is located . The only village in the valley is Rein in Taufers . At Rein, the valley branches into a north-eastern branch, the Knuttental, and a south-eastern branch, the Bachertal, which extends to the Ursprung-Alm.
The Reintal is bordered to the north by mountains of the Venediger group, which are assigned to the Durreck group west of the Ochsenlenke ( 2614 m ) . The highest peaks here are the Große Moosnock ( 3059 m ), the Durreck ( 3135 m ) and the Hirbernock ( 3010 m ). The ridges on the east side - south of the 2288 m high Klammljoch , where the Knuttental ends - and on the south side of the Reintal belong to the Rieserferner group. In the east, on the border with Austria , there are (from north to south) the Dreieckspitze ( 3031 m ), Lenkstein ( 3236 m ), Fenneregg ( 3123 m ), Patscher Spitze ( 3082 m ) and Barmer Spitze ( 3200 m ). In the southeast of the valley is the Hochgall ( 3436 m ), the highest of the mountains bordering the valley. The thence west direction to Taufer valley to the striking ridge also contributes significant peaks, including the the south-facing Antholzer valley dominant Wildgall ( 3273 m ), the above the Western Vedrette constituent Magerstein ( 3273 m ), the Schneebiger Nock ( 3358 m ), the Gelttalspitze ( 3126 m ), the Schwarze Wand ( 3105 m ), the Morgenkofel ( 3073 m ), the Wasserkopf ( 3135 m ) and the Große Windschar ( 3041 m ).
Apart from smaller sections in the area of the valley floor, the entire Reintal in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park is under protection.
