action
Two high schools in Alexandria, Virginia are merged for political reasons. Suddenly the black football team under coach Herman Boone and the white team under coach Yoast have to come to terms with each other. Thanks to a training camp under the strict hand of Boone, the boys find each other. The two star players of the teams Julius and Gerry eventually become good friends there. However, they quickly find out that the real test is still waiting for them: In the harsh reality outside the camp, they are confronted with racism again. Ultimately, however, they get together and the two coaches also learn to appreciate each other. Together they win the championship. However, their success is overshadowed by Gerry's car accident, after which he remains paraplegic and has to sit in a wheelchair from now on. However, he later won a gold medal in the shot put at the Paralympics. 10 years later he dies.
