Robert R. Gaudreau (born January 20, 1970 in Cranston , Rhode Island ) is a former American ice hockey player who, in the course of his active career between 1988 and 1997, among other things, 245 games for the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators in national hockey League on the position of the right winger . His father, Bob Gaudreau, was also a hockey player and took part in the 1968 Winter Olympics as such .

Career

Gaudreau played four years from 1988 to 1992 very successfully at Providence College in Hockey East of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In his first year he was named Rookie of the Year together with Scott Pellerin . In the following years three nominations for all-star teams of the league followed. In the 1988 NHL Entry Draft , the right winger was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the ninth round in 172nd place. The Penguins quickly gave up his transfer rights to the Minnesota North Stars . Gaudreau did not play a single NHL game for the North Stars either, as he was committed in the 1991 NHL Dispersal Draft by the newly formed San Jose Sharks .

After his senior year at college, the American finally moved to the NHL and scored 23 goals in 59 games for San Jose in his rookie season 1992/93 , but was also with the Kansas City Blades , the farm team of the Sharks, in the International Hockey League used. After another year in San Jose, they put him on the waiver list before the 1994/95 season , which started late due to the lockout . From there, the Ottawa Senators signed him, where he also stayed for two years. Gaudreau then moved to Europe and played for both HC Bozen and HC La Chaux-de-Fonds before ending his career after the 1996/97 season.

International

Gaudreau took for the United States at the World Youth Championship in 1990 and the World Cup in 1993 in part. But he couldn't win a medal.
