Roland Böer took over the musical direction in 2009 and has been the successor to the composer Detlev Glanert since 2015, and has also been the artistic director of the festival, in which young musicians work and perform together with internationally renowned artists every year. Since all participants without exception waive their fees, the focus is solely on making music together.

For outstanding services to the cultural life of Montepulciano , Roland Böer was awarded the “Grifo Poliziano” in 2018 and thus the honorary citizenship of the city.
