Ronald Wurm (born March 16, 1987 in The Hague ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Heerenveen Flyers since 2014 and has played with them in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League since 2015 .

Career

Clubs

Ronald Wurm began his career as an ice hockey player with HC Kobra Prague in the third-rate Czech second division . From there he moved to HC Havlíčkův Brod in 2008 in the first division , which is the second class in the Czech Republic. After only six months he moved back to his Dutch homeland and signed with the honorary divisionist HYS The Hague , with whom he won the first national championship title in 40 years in the southern Dutch capital in 2009 . In the following year he was named the most valuable Dutch player in the honor division. After stints at the Eindhoven Kemphanen and the Amsterdam G’s , Wurm returned to his hometown in 2012 and was again able to become Dutch champions in 2013 with HYS The Hague. In 2014 he moved to Heerenveen to the Heerenveen Flyers , where he has been on the ice ever since. Since 2015 he has been playing with the Flyers in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League . As the best Dutch team, the team from Heerenveen won the Dutch championship there in 2016. He himself was awarded the Jack-de-Heer-Trofee as the best Dutch scorer . Wurm was also able to win the Dutch cup competition with his team. In the following year, in addition to defending the Dutch championship title, he also won the BeNe League for the first time.

International

Wurm took part with the Dutch team at the U-20 World Championships in 2006 and 2007 in Division II.

With the men's national team of his country, he took part in the World Championships of Division I in 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2017 . After relegation in 2015, he played at the 2016 World Cup with the Oranjes in Division II, where he immediately rose again.

He was also on the ice for the Netherlands at the qualifying tournaments for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . After the Dutch surprisingly prevailed in the first qualifying round in Budapest in November 2012 with a 7-6 win after a penalty shoot-out against the favored hosts Hungary , they had no chance in the decisive second stage of qualification in Bietigheim-Bissingen in February 2013 and were divorced out. He was also on the ice during the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang .
