Rotheau (pronounced "red-Au") is a village in Lower Austria and locality of the municipality of Eschenau in Lilienfeld . About 500 people live in the village of Rotheau.

geography

The place is located in the Türnitz Alps in the Traisental , between the places Wilhelmsburg and Traisen , just under 20 kilometers south of St. Pölten .

Mariazeller Straße B 20 leads through Rotheau .

The Traisen flows through the local district, here flows the Steubach, whose valley forms the municipality of Eschenau.

history

Opposite the site was in the 12th century on Altenburger Kogel the Altenburg , the former seat of the Ministerialgeschlechts the Altenburg.

Until 1938 there was a nib factory in Rotheau that gave work to several hundred residents. After the liquidation, it was continued in a local inn and moved to Krems in 1951 .

Infrastructure

From Mariazeller Straße B 20, the L 107 branches off here, which leads via Eschenau  - Wehrabach  - Tradigist to Rabenstein an der Pielach .

Rotheau is served by the regional bus route 1545, until December 13, 2014 also by the Leobersdorfer Bahn with the Rotheau-Eschenau stop .

There is a kindergarten in Rotheau. The place belongs to the elementary school district Eschenau.
Rotheau has a volunteer fire brigade which was founded in 1910.

The Eschenau circular hiking trail begins and ends in Rotheau.
