Rudolf Fenner

Rudolf Fenner (born February 8, 1910 in Berlin , † November 16, 1982 in Hollenstedt ) was a German actor , radio play and voice actor .

Life

Fenner received stage engagements at the Hamburger Theater im Zimmer under Helmuth Gmelin , at the Junge Theater in Hamburg, the later Ernst Deutsch Theater , at the Thalia Theater and under Gustaf Gründgens at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus . His portrayal of the veteran “Pat” in Friedrich Schütter's production of Brendan Behan's Die Geisel at the Junge Theater was described by Manfred Preihs in the Theater der Zeit as “remarkably good”.

Fenner became known to film and television audiences primarily in shady roles, such as in the Edgar Wallace films The Inn on the Thames and The Dead Eyes of London, as well as in the thriller Waiting Room to the Afterlife by James Hadley Chase . He also played in productions such as Zuckmayer's adaptation of Des Teufels General , Helmut Käutner's Der Hauptmann von Köpenick and Ottokar Runzes Der Lord von Barmbeck . In addition, he took on guest roles in various television series and series such as Stahlnetz , Gestatten, my name is Cox , Polizeifunk ruft , Cliff Dexter , Hafenpolizei and The Despicable One .

Fenner was particularly active as a speaker for radio play productions. He spoke often threatening and monstrous characters like the man-eating giants in Jackie and the Beanstalk and Little Tom Thumb (both at the label of Europe ), the giant in The Brave Little Tailor (BASF), the giant Goliath in Biblical Stories (Europe), the Giants in Sindbad, the seafarer (Europe), the bad wolf in The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats (Decca) and the Cyclops Polyphemus in Odysseus' Odyssey (Europe). He dubbed the same role in the German version of The Journeys of Odysseus , the film adaptation of Homer's songs produced in Italy in 1955 . As a voice actor, Fenner also lent his voice to Ferdy Mayne in Hotel Sahara , Eric Pohlmann in The Man Who Didn't Know Himself , André Morell in On the Wrong Track and Eugene Pallette in The Death Tire .
