Southeast German football championship 1908/09

The southeast German soccer championship in 1908/09 was the third edition of the southeast German soccer championship of the Southeast German Football Association (SOFV). SC Alemannia Cottbus won the championship with a 3-2 win over FC Preußen 05 Kattowitz in the final. By winning the association championship, the Cottbusers qualified for the German championship in 1908/09 , in which the club was defeated in the quarter-finals against SC Erfurt just 3: 4 after extra time. It was Alemannia Cottbus' first and only championship title of the Southeast German Football Association .

In the top division of Southeast Germany in the 1908/09 season a total of 31 teams were divided into 5 district classes. The district class of Upper Silesia was divided into the Gau Ratibor and the Gau Kattowitz , whose respective first place winners played the Upper Silesia football championship in a playoff. The champions of each district, with the exception of the Poznan district, qualified for the championship finals of the Southeast German Football Association .

Decision game for 1st place

Due to a tie, a decision game between Hohenzollern Forest and Germany Forest was called. The game taking place on July 11, 1909 was canceled, and the replay on July 18, 1909 was canceled. Only the second replay on July 25, 1909 was over, Germany Forst won 3-1.

Decision game for the Upper Silesian championship

The winners of the two districts of Ratibor and Katowice met in a final game to determine the Upper Silesian soccer champion and thus the Upper Silesian participant in the Southeast German soccer final. Prussia Katowice prevailed in this game, the result is not recorded.

District class Poznan

The Poznan district class was held for the first time this season after three Poznan football clubs joined the Southeast German Football Association. Nevertheless, the winner was not allowed to take part in the Southeast German soccer finals this season.

The final round of the southeast German soccer championship was played again in the knockout system in the 1908/09 season. All district champions were qualified except for the Poznan representative.
